Gaugler Towing Service - for over 30 years!


1983 Gabi and Robert Gaugler founded the company Auto Gaugler. It all began with the opening of a car repair shop in a barn in Ellwangen-Rattstadt.

A first tow truck was also acquired. This DB 808 was the first tow truck in the region equipped with a loading crane.

1984 Used car dealership in the town of Ellwangen on Haller Straße. The first office building here was simply a caravan.


Contractual partnership with the Automobile Club of Germany (AvD).

1986 Relocation to a former petrol station on Konrad Adenauerstrasse in Ellwangen in order to bring both business areas together under one roof.

Expansion of the vehicle fleet to include a breakdown assistance vehicle.


1987 This was followed by the takeover of the taxi company Stegmaier with 4 taxis and a rental car.

1989 New building on Veit-Hirschmann-Straße in Ellwangen and opening of the Auto Gaugler & Baumann automotive repair shop. Sufficient parking spaces are now available for tow trucks, customer vehicles, and used cars.


1990 Expansion of the vehicle fleet by adding another flatbed truck with a loading crane.

1991 Sale of the taxi company to Hermann Gaugler.


1994 Construction of an additional vehicle hall.


1996 Purchase of two rental cars.


2002 Contractual partnership with Assistance Partner.

2006 Expansion of the vehicle fleet by one double-decker platform vehicle with lifting frame for transporting up to 3 vehicles.


2008 Procurement of a deployment train for the remediation of traffic areas and soil after oil and extreme pollution damage.

2009 Construction of an additional vehicle hall to accommodate the expanded vehicle fleet and the increased order volume.


2011 Expansion of the vehicle fleet by adding a second unit for cleaning traffic areas.

2012 Expansion of the vehicle fleet to include a 4-axle recovery vehicle for heavy traffic, as well as a fully equipped equipment vehicle for the commercial vehicle sector.

2013 Acquisition of a semi-trailer truck with a skip loader. This vehicle will be used in the heavy haulage sector for recovery and transport operations. It will also be available to the environmental services department for soil remediation.



2013 Opening of our location in Aalen.

Our newly built site in the Brühl industrial park is centrally located between the A7 Aalen/Westhausen junction and the federal highways 19 & 29 on the outskirts of the large district town of Aalen.


At our Aalen location, we offer our full range of services, from breakdown assistance and towing to vehicle recovery and road cleaning. Naturally, you can reach us 24/7, 365 days a year.

2014 Fleet expansion with a FAUN mobile crane. Our powerful and maneuverable mobile crane is used for heavy-duty recovery operations, as well as for crane work in industry.

2017 New procurement of two flatbed vehicles for the passenger car sector.

  • LFB 70 on Iveco Daily chassis: sliding platform with recovery winch, 7 seats, equipped as a breakdown assistance vehicle
  • LFB 105 on Mercedes-Benz Atego chassis: sliding platform with recovery winch, lifting frame for transporting vans and motorhomes, 6 seats, tool equipment for minor repairs, second rotating beacon on platform for rear safety during loading operations.


2018 The fleet has been expanded with a new heavy-duty recovery vehicle. The latest generation MASTERLIFT Comfort H is built on a Volvo FH 540 8x4 chassis. In addition to a fully hydraulic telescopic boom with a maximum lifting capacity of 40 tons, the vehicle features two winches, each with a 20-ton pulling force, rear support, and equipment for all towing and recovery operations in heavy-duty traffic.
